Sonia Collymore

2003/2005 JUNO Award winning artist, Sonia Collymore has developed a unique sound supported by a bold stage presence. Sonia's niche is Reggae, but over the years she has developed a strong jazz, soul and R&B vocal style. Her music is soulful with a Caribbean twist. Sonia has the unique ability to draw her audience in. She often sings songs on the spot based on audience requests. Sonia sings in English, Spanish and some Italian. In the Reggae Arena her debut single Breathe won her Female New Comer of the Year and Single of the Year at the 17th Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards. She followed that win with Female Singer of the Year at the 18th Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards and a JUNO nomination. The following year she won the JUNO for Reggae Recording Of the Year for the single “You Won’t See Me Cry” and a Female Singer Of the Year nomination at the 19h Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards.

Not only does she write for herself but she has co-penned songs on the "My Rules" album by Patria and the “Can't Get Over You" album by Pop Sensation, 3Deep. She has written, toured and recorded songs with international reggae legend, Beres Hammond and wrote 12 of the 13 tracks on her debut album, WYSIWYG.
